Register at GDHS
Registration for the 2024-2025 school year is now open
Option 1: Register in Person
Complete the Student Registration Form prior to visiting the school. Please bring the completed registration form with you. Registration forms must be completed by the Parent/Guardian, or student if 18 years of age or older. When you arrive to the school, please bring the required documents listed below.
Option 2: Pre-Register Online
You can now begin the online pre-registration process for new HDSB students who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents residing in Halton.
Visit the HDSB Online Student Pre-Registration portal and "request a new account" to begin the process.
Once you have submitted the online form, you will receive a confirmation email indicating you’ve successfully completed pre-registration.
After completing the Online Registration, please wait for a call or an email from the school to proceed with the registration. If you do not hear from someone within two business days, please call the school for instructions on the next steps to complete the registration. At your appointment, please bring the required documents listed below.
Required Documentation for Registration
Please bring the following required documents to complete your registration in-person:
Proof of child’s age: birth certificate or passport or baptismal/faith record for your child
Proof of address (any two of the following documents): lease or deed, car registration, utility bill, residential telephone bill, moving bill, property tax bill, bank statement, credit card statement, correspondence with a government agency. Important Note: A driver’s license will not be accepted as documentation for “proof of address”.
Proof of child’s citizenship: birth certificate or passport, Record of Landing (IMM 1000) or Permanent Resident Card
Proof of custody: if you are not the parent and your child is under 18 you must provide proof of custody (court order)
Ontario Education Number (OEN): located on any report card or transcript.
Registration and Course Selection
Current Gr 8s & new to HDSB for gr 9
Gr 8 students that will be new to HDSB and wish to register at GDHS for Grade 9 in September must complete a registration package, including:

Required documents (see list above)
Send these documents as early as December of the Gr 8 Year to Mrs Peddie, Guidance Secretary: peddied@hdsb.ca.
Moved into GDHS catchment area
Students that have moved into the area and will now have GDHS as their home school must complete a registration package

Midterm/last report card
Transcript of marks from previous school
At least 8 Course Requests

Transferring schools
Students that already reside in Georgetown but would like to switch schools and attend GDHS must complete:

Out of Area Transfer
Students who live outside the boundaries of GDHS and are currently attending another school need to complete a Secondary Out of Area Transfer Form to apply to GDHS. Once complete, please submit the form to your home high school (ie: not GDHS) to initiate the Out of Area Transfer Process. For Gr 8s, this form is due prior to the second Friday of January of the gr 8 year

This website provides resources for parents and guardians who are new to Canada or whose first language is not English
Newcomer Students and Families
Students and families may need to visit the Welcome Centre in Milton prior to making an appointment to register at a Halton School. Students must register through the Welcome Centre first if any of the following apply:
entering the Ontario school system for the first time and whose first language is not English (or is a variety of English different from the variety used for instruction in Ontario Schools)
entering HDSB with an International Student Visa (or any visa including Visitor Visas)
entering HDSB with a work permit or a study permit - student and/or parent /guardian holds the permit
entering HDSB with their Permanent Residence Status application in progress
entering HDSB from a French language school from a French language school board
re-entering Ontario after an absence of a year or more (for students whose first language is not English)
